April invitation, burst of color, good weather, and multiple, exciting Go WOW events
The past weekend started off with a hike and run in Sibley Volcanic Park with a small group of us enjoying an awesome Saturday morning. Annie Myers was the tour director while Bernadette Assanah and I trekked around to views of incredible wildflowers, labyrinths, and 360 degree vistas. What a lovely Go WOW way to start April!
Sunday, April 2 was the Oakland Run Fest and WOW Women were well represented in many of the races. Congratulations to all racers and especially Lauren Mentzel and Esther who had personal bests.
Over the weekend we also had 2 new members join our club. Welcome back Sarah Kurhajetz and welcome aboard Bernadette Assannah.
On Tuesday, April 4 you have the first opportunity to listen to Kathrine Switzer of Boston Marathon fame. Kathrine was the first woman who ever ran the Boston Marathon as an official registrant. This happened 50 years ago when people felt that women were not capable of running 26.2 miles! Her story is super.

Our Lake Merritt Wednesday evening workouts
are getting even better now that we have light! The sun is out for the full time that we wend our way around the lake. Join us at 6PM for stairs or 6:30 for the run, walk, or run/walk.
On Thursday, April 6 we are celebrating the inaugural series of 12 podcasts
by partying at Crooked City Cider in Oakland, CA. If you live nearby please try to join us to celebrate the amazing women interviewed. We have shared their stories from around the globe and they are awesome! RSVP on Facebook or on Meetup.
Friday, April 7 we are back to our normal weekend workouts with Track on Friday and a long run on Sunday, April 9.
Busy week. Beautiful women. Bountiful rewards when you participate.
I hope to see you soon!
